Unlimited potential exists for an anesthesiologist to join a strong anesthesiology practice in a dynamic community that is economically, culturally, and socially inviting. The current need is for one full-time Anesthesiologist, with the physician having an interest in pain medicine. A fellowship in pain management is desired, but not required. The physician will be an employee of the hospital and will receive a competitive salary. The hospital will provide an annual allowance for licensing and subscriptions. The candidate will receive a generous benefits package that includes vacation, sick and holiday time, CME, relocation assistance, and education loan repayment if necessary.

Current services in Obstetrics do not include epidurals; the CRNAs on staff provide intrathecals. Call will be 1:2. Call is simultaneous with CRNA on-call. The successful candidate with an interest and experience in pain medicine would be ideal. The approximate split for this position will be 26 weeks per year in Anesthesia, and 20 weeks per year in Pain Management.

Qualifications of applicants for our Anesthesiology opportunity

  • Board Certified or board eligible
  • Allopathic and osteopathic physicians will be considered equally
  • American born and trained physicians and foreign-born physicians who have completed a US residency and/or fellowship will be considered equally. HIB candidates will be considered.
  • In-practice physicians, residents or fellows, and military-trained physicians will be considered equally

Financial Package

The incoming physician will be an employee of the hospital and will receive a highly competitive salary. The hospital will pay a portion of the health insurance for the physician and will pay the full amount of malpractice insurance. Additionally, the hospital will pay up to $600/year for licensing and subscriptions for their practice. The candidate will receive vacation, CME, sick and holiday time to be used on an annual basis. The hospital will also provide CME of up to $2,500 per year and relocation assistance. Education loan repayment, as appropriate, is paid in six-month increments.

The current pain management service at Cary is an interdisciplinary clinic and referral resource for physicians that provides for inpatient and outpatient consultations for patients in both acute and chronic pain conditions. Cary strives to offer a positive and beneficial patient experience to pain patients. The pain management service provides outpatient services where patient are evaluated and treated for a vast array of diagnosis and pain syndrome, fibromyalgia neuralgia, phantom limb pain, and facial pain. Multiple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are conducted, such as epidural steroid injections, trigger point injections, facet blocks, nerve blocks, botex injections, and medication evaluation.

Cary features all private patient rooms, a family centered maternity program, and a modern one-day-surgery unit. The hospital provides the largest outpatient rehabilitation service in northern Maine including a multi-stage cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program.
