Hans L. Duvefelt, M.D. has joined Pines Health Services and will be a full time physician at the St. John Valley Health Center in Van Buren. Dr. Duvefelt is originally from Sweden and trained at the Uppsala University School of Medicine where he earned his Medical Degree in 1979. He completed a Rotating Internship at Centrallasarettet, Norrkopin, Sweden from 1979 - 1981 and his Family Practice Residency at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, from 1981 - 1984. He earned his National Board Certification in Family Practice in 1995 and was recertified in 2002.
Dr. Duvefelt has been visiting Northern Maine over many years attending some of the cultural events in New Sweden, Maine. He will be replacing Claude Boma, M.D. who has been serving patients at the Van Buren Health Center over the past several years. Dr. Boma will join Cary Medical Center and take on the role as the second Day Hospitalist at Cary, joining Dr. Irene Djuanda.
