Welcome To the 2010 Swim Across for the Red Cross Welcome to the 2010 Swim Across for the Red Cross. We are so glad you are interested in learning more about this event. The Aroostook Division of the Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring this event along with Cary Medical Center's Healthy You Program. The goal of the project is to raise funds for emergency services provided by the Red Cross right here in Aroostook County. Funds will also be used to benefit the Healthy You program. Healthy You presents beneficial health and wellness programs throughout central Aroostook County. Everyone knows that when disaster strikes, the Red Cross is there. But few people know about the many services provided by the local chapters of the American Red Cross. Each year our Aroostook County Red Cross program offers help to people who have experienced fires. Many times people lose everything in a house fire and the Red Cross provides for immediate needs such as clothing, shelter, food, medications and other vital services. The Red Cross is also involved in helping military families stay connected during times of crisis. First Aide, Water Safety, Babysitting Courses and other services are all part of the work of your local Red Cross. Healthy You offers many valuable health and wellness programs attended by thousands of county residents over the past two years. From Cancer prevention diets, to strength training for Senior Citizens and much more, Healthy You is living the mission of Cary Medical Center, Aspiring to Create a Healthier Community.

Our Annual Swim Across is used to support these valuable services and programs. You can participate and help your own local charity by retaining 50% of the funds that you raise. If you are in a non-profit organization, church group, project graduation program, or other charitable project, you only have to demonstrate the tax exempt nature of the program to retain 50% of the donations you raise for the Swim Across. Great Prizes are available too. From an I-Pod to the Adult Swimmer who raises the most in donations to a $600 New Mountain Bike for the youth winner and other prizes as well.
