Pines Cary Welcome New Internist

Pines Health Services welcomes Towhid Shiblee, M.D., Internal Medicine, to its growing multi-specialty practice and to Aroostook County.  Dr. Shiblee joined Pines Health Services in mid-November and is seeing new patients at the Pines Family Health Center in Presque Isle.  Dr. Shiblee is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He earned his Medical Degree from Sir Salimullah Medical College in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and completed his internal medicine residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York.  Before starting his residency at the Brooklyn Hospital Center, Dr. Shiblee played a leadership role in the hospital’s clinical research program for six years.

Pines Health Services is a Federally Qualified Health Center with offices in Caribou, Presque Isle, Limestone, and Van Buren.  It is Pines’ mission to deliver patient-centered, quality health care services to all residents of the area, particularly those who have been unserved historically.  Pines’ Access program enables patients to be seen at all of our health centers without regard to ability to pay.

Jim Davis, Pines CEO, noted that the addition of Dr. Shiblee continues an expansion of primary care services at the Presque Isle Health Center.   “We are very pleased to have Dr. Shiblee on board.  He is a key addition to the team of providers at our Health Center in Presque Isle”, said Davis.  “We have added three Internists in the past three months and have two more Internists joining us in the 2nd half of 2011.   Each of these physicians has strong clinical skills, believes strongly in our mission to deliver high quality, compassionate health services, and will rapidly become part of the fabric of the general community.”

In addition to the Internists, the community welcomed two new General Surgeons, a husband and wife team, who joined Pines in August.  Cary Medical Center has also recruited an Anesthesiologist and an Emergency Department Physician.  Kris Doody, RN, CEO of Cary Medical Center, said that the addition of these physicians represents a great opportunity for the hospital and the community.

“We are very pleased to make additional services available to our community.  Bringing this number of new providers to The County provides the hospital with some great opportunities for service expansion and, more importantly, improves access to medical care for patients who otherwise wouldn’t be able to see a physician.”

Dr. Shiblee sees patients at Pines Presque Isle Family Health Center.  Appointments can be made by calling 769-2025.
