| Cary Exceeds Customer Expectations Again |
|
Hospital Recognized for Fourth Straight Year For six out of the last seven years Cary Medical Center has been honored with the ‘Exceeding Customer Expectations Award’ from AVATAR International a leading healthcare satisfaction survey company. By measuring patient expectations prior to coming to the hospital and then measuring the patient’s response to their most recent experience AVATAR can determine which hospitals among more than 300 surveyed nationwide are truly exceeding the expectations of their patients. AVATAR International is only one of many organizations that assess the quality of care being delivered by hospitals throughout the nation. Cary Medical Center submits data to the Leapfrog Group, the Maine Health Management Coalition, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and other organizations. This data is accessible to the public and Cary has posted this information on its website for years. One primary site for such reporting is ‘HospitalCompare.Gov’. Here you can find comparisons for various quality measures for hospitals in the United States. Cary has taken a number of steps to improve quality, patient safety and the patient experience. The hospital has invested millions of dollars in creating some of the most advanced digital healthcare technology. This technology includes a fully automated, closed loop, medication dispensing system featuring Omni-Cell and bed-side patient and medication bar coding. The hospital has introduced Computerized Physician Order Entry. Here physicians enter all of their orders by computer reducing the risk for errors on handwritten orders. The hospital has purchased ‘Smart Pumps’ that help prevent medication errors through automation systems and a drug library built right into the infusion pumps. All of these digital, computer enhanced procedures are designed to establish a safer environment for patients. The hospital is striving for 100% compliance with Core Measures of quality. These are measures of clinical performance on established guidelines for processes of care and outcomes. Cary Medical Center also participates in a national accreditation program through The Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Cary was honored to receive the Gold Seal of Approval from the JCAHO in its most recent survey in 2010 awarding the hospital a full accreditation for the next three years. We are proud of the outstanding work being done by our entire team to create a safe, quality, and satisfying patient experience. |
