Pink Aroostook is a Breast Health Program for northern Maine. The program is designed for support, advocacy, education and awareness of breast health issues.

Thanks to Cary Medical Center, the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition and the Maine Breast & Cervical Health Program, we are able to provide a limited number of low or no cost mammograms and/or financial assistance to individuals in need who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Maine Breast & Cervical Health Program
Our project aims to make more women aware of a program under the Department Of Health and Human Services Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Funding from this program makes it possible to offer free mammograms and pap smears for women who qualify to increase early detection of cancer for women in Maine. Early detection is currently the best way to save the lives of women from breast and cervical cancer. To see if you qualify for no-cost screenings, please visit: http://www.maine.gov/dhhs/bohdcfh/bcp/index.htm

Breast Cancer Support Group
Pink Aroostook hosts a Breast Cancer Support Group in the Chan Center of Cary Medical Center, the first and third Thursday of every month from 5 to 7PM. Breast cancer patients and survivors are invited to attend.

National Breast Cancer Coalition
Through corporate membership with the National Breast Cancer Coalition, we are seeking to help eradicate breast cancer by focusing the administration, U.S. Congress, research institutions and consumer advocates on breast cancer. NBCC encourages all those concerned about this disease to become advocates for action and change. The Coalition informs, trains and directs patients and others in effective advocacy efforts. Nationwide, women and men are increasing the awareness of breast cancer public policy by participating in legislative, scientific and regulatory decisions, promoting positive media coverage and actively working to raise public awareness.  Please help us reach this goal by signing our petition to the President of the United States here: PRESIDENTIAL PETITION.  Our goal is to obtain 290,000 signatures on this petition, one for each person who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012.  In Maine, 1,485 will be diagnosed this year.  We are also seeking organizational endorsements for Breast Cancer Deadline 2020.  For more information, visit: ORGANIZATIONAL ENDORSEMENT.
