Maintenance – 40 hrs/wk – L’Acadie

Job Summary:
The Maintenance position is responsible for maintaining the L’Acadie/Pines physical building, equipment, and grounds. The position is also responsible for the facility’s inventory of supplies and will serve as the facility’s Environment of Care (EOC) Safety Officer.

Essential Job Duties:
A. Maintenance
1. Perform ground maintenance, moving, cleaning walkways and parking lot to include trash, snow, and ice removal.
2. Keep walks, fire escapes, and porches free and clear.
3. Drives van when needed for resident appointments or outings. Replaces clinical staff when on vacations and sickness.
4. Wash outside windows in upper level of building yearly.
5. Burnish floors in L’Acadie and hallways as scheduled.
6. Clean dirty utility room monthly.
7. Check out prices on all items purchased and coordinates repairs of equipment.
8. Maintain and repair the following systems working with other resources when needed to include but not limited to, the following:
a. Generator
b. Boiler
c. Fire Alarms
9. Perform carpentry, painting, and basic repairs.

B. Inventory Supply
1. Conducts supply inventory on a regular basis to ensure that supplies are available.
2. Prepares purchase orders for supplies except dietary weekly.
3. Keeps stockroom tidy and clean.
4. Receives orders and checks out for accuracy.

C. EOC Safety Officer
1. Maintain and coordinate all activities of the L’Acadie Safety Plans and Emergency Operating Plan (EOP).
2. Assist in the development of the EOC safety policies and procedures, reviewing and updating as needed.
3. Assist with the education of employees on safety initiatives and EOP annually and as needed.
4. Perform inspections of the environment looking for hazards and working with the Manager & staff to develop appropriate action plan and follow-up.
5. Participate with State Surveys when needed.
6. Consults with Cary Facility Manager and EOC Safety Lead in activities dealing with Safety, Life Safety, Security, EOC concerns as needed to ensure survey readiness.
7. Participate as a member of the Hospital’s EOC Safety Committee and will report on the dashboard and safety concerns monthly.
8. Assists with the collection and review of QM safety data such as temperature logs and other identified safety initiatives.
9. Maintain the L’Acadie dashboards and ensures that all items are completed prior to deadlines.

Other Duties:
1. Complies with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
2. Other duties as assigned.

Licenses and Education:
1. Working knowledge of boiler, fuels and water systems and ancillary equipment.
2. Working knowledge of electrical equipment, lighting, and power distribution.
3. Working knowledge of rough carpentry work.
4. Working knowledge of painting, caulking and interior surfaces.
5. Working knowledge of plumbing repairs such as leaky faucets, faulty sinks and toilets, and other leaks.
6. Working knowledge of air conditioning and air handling systems.
7. Previous experience preferred.
8. High School Graduate or CED.
