Patient Registration – 40 hrs/wk – Imaging (Anticipated Opening)

Job Summary:

Job duties include, but are not limited to, scheduling patient procedures, completing patient reminder calls, completing paperwork preparation prior to patient arrival and providing secretarial services as needed.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Schedule patient procedures
  2. Calls patients before scheduled exam to remind patient of appointment time. Mammography patients will be called one week prior to scheduled exam, all other scheduled exams will be called one to two days prior to scheduled exam.
  3. Answers phone promptly and cordially, including taking messages and forwarding phone calls appropriately
  4. Checks phone messages and returns calls promptly
  5. Checks mammography dates for scheduled mammography patients and insures that last mammography films are available for scheduled exam date
  6. Checks CT labs and insures that labs results are available for CT tech review prior to scheduled exam date
  7. Ensures that all scheduled patients have an order for the scheduled procedure
  8. Answers patients’ general questions regarding procedures, including preparation for various exams in Imaging Services. Sees that patients questions are directed to the appropriate technologist if the question is above the scope of knowledge of the scheduler
  9. Assists Imaging front office staff in retrieving images for physician offices, clinics, other Cary Medical Center departments and patients
  10. Greets all patients and families in a professional and caring manner
  11. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Imaging Services filing system, including filing of reports, films, requisitions, and correspondence
  12. Assist with mailing patient images as appropriate
  13. May need to assist with directing patient changing
  14. May need to assist with patient chaperoning
  15. Performs other work related duties as assigned

Educational, Skills, Experience Requirements:

High School Graduate or Equivalent

Experience with medical terminology

Ability to relate to hospital staff
