Patient Registration/Prior Authorizations – 40 hrs/wk – Imaging (Anticipated Opening)

Job Summary:

Job activities include, but are not limited to, registration of patients presenting to the department for procedures, pre-registration of scheduled patients, finalization of all pre-registered accounts, entering physician orders into CPSI, scanning of requisitions and pre-certifications onto the patient accounts, filing completed orders, pulling patient files for scheduled exams, directing patient flow and assisting with patient scheduling as necessary

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Registers all patients presenting for outpatient Imaging procedures
  2. Pre-registers all patients scheduled for outpatient Imaging procedures
  3. Finalizes all pre-registered account upon patient arrival in Imaging Services
  4. Completes order entry on all patients receiving Imaging procedures
  5. Files completed orders with Imaging Services filing system
  6. Directs patient flow following registration, including, but not limited to, directing patient changing
  7. Answers phone promptly and cordially, including taking messages and forwarding phone calls appropriately, working in conjunction with other front office staff
  8. Checks phone messages and returns calls promptly
  9. Answers patients’ general questions regarding procedures, including preparation for various exams in Imaging Services. Sees that patients questions are directed to the appropriate technologist if the question is above the scope of knowledge of the scheduler
  10. Assists Imaging front office staff in retrieving images for physician offices, clinics, other Cary Medical Center departments and patients
  11. Greets all patients and families in a professional and caring manner
  12. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Imaging Services filing system, including filing of reports, films, requisitions, and correspondence
  13. Assist with mailing patient images as appropriate
  14. Assist with patient chaperoning as appropriate
  15. Performs other work related duties as assigned

Educational, Skills, Experience Requirements:

High School Graduate or Equivalent

Experience with medical terminology

Ability to relate to hospital staff
