Specialist – 32 hrs/wk Housekeeping

Job Summary:

Responsible for all Laundry, Housekeeping, and Nutritional Services function to support our patients, families, and co-workers.

Housekeeping:

  1. Routinely select cleaning materials and supplies, and prepares solutions according to procedure, loads service card, and transports to work area.
  2. Return unused supplies to the utility room. Clean carts and equipment; ensure all items are replaced in an orderly manner.
  3. Clean assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions; scour and polish sinks, showers, toilets, water fountains, blinds, and mirrors.
  4. Thoroughly clean assigned areas by washing walls, doors, door frames, ceiling, ventilators, patient televisions, and windows.
  5. Routinely dry and damp mop floors in accordance with departmental procedures.
  6. Vacuum carpets as required.
  7. Arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion after cleaning assigned area.
  8. Empty trash baskets in designated areas; sanitize all trash cans.
  9. Observe established isolation and asepsis techniques.
  10. Clean equipment and notify team leader of equipment needing repair; report safety hazards to manager.
  11. Thoroughly wash and sanitize beds when patients are discharged; make beds with clean linen in prescribed manner.
  12. Provide proper notification and advance notice for absence or tardiness.
  13. When requested, be willing to adjust personal schedule to complete workload or cover for emergencies.
  14. Consistently be on time and ready to work at start of assigned shift, require no start up time.
  15. Regularly consults the schedule to coordinate the daily activities and adjusts as necessary in view of the fluctuations in work load.
  16. Complete assigned tasks within designated time frame.
  17. Consistently demonstrate the ability to recognize and deal with priorities.
  18. Make suggestions for any special projects, cost-saving ideas, improvements, etc. that may benefit the department or institution.
  19. Assist coworkers who exhibit insufficient knowledge or ability to complete the assigned tasks or duties.
  20. Accept and demonstrate understanding for both written and verbal instructions.
  21. Consult supervisor or housekeeping director on matters of uncertainty.
  22. Demonstrate a cost-conscious attitude in daily operation of housekeeping; help to reduce cost by minimizing waste.
  23. Exhibit a positive attitude when dealing with other in day-to-day work situations.
  24. Work well with supervisors and those in authority positions.
