The Women's Imaging Center

The Jefferson Cary Foundation, (JCF) established a fundraising goal of $800,000 for the construction/renovation project that brought a Women's Imaging Center to Cary Medical Center in 2012. With donations still being received from many sources, currently totaling just over $780,000, the project was completed and the Center opened in December 2012.

To kick off the fundraising effort, the Foundation started with an internal capital campaign at Cary and Pines Health Services. With generous support from hospital employees, volunteers, the Cary Medical Staff, Pines Health Services employees, and members of the boards of directors; just over $153,000 in donations was received either directly or through a payroll deduction plan, far exceeding the internal campaign goal of $100,000. The successful internal campaign was completed in the summer of 2012 and was the largest done in the hospital's 88-year history.

The capital campaign was also kick-started in December of 2011 with an initial $100,000 donation from the Cary Medical Center Auxiliary. The Auxiliary raises funds through hospital gift shop sales, proceeds from the Annual Walk for Care in October, and other fundraising efforts.

The Foundation has established a dynamic donor recognition program associated with this project. Each gift to the Women's Imaging Center is fully tax deductible and every gift will be individually acknowledged in the following way:

Founders: $10,000 and Up
Benefactors: $5,000 Up to $9,999
Patrons: $2,500 Up to $4,999
Sponsors: $1,000 Up to $2,499
Friends: $500 Up to $999
Supporters: Up to $499

Gifts may be made in memory of a loved one or in honor of family or individuals. Donations can be made as a one-time gift or pledged over a three year period. Pledged gifts will be billed by the foundation on an annual basis at the discretion of the donor.

Please consider the life-saving value of this incredible service for women here in Aroostook County. While the mortality rate for women diagnosed with Breast Cancer in Aroostook County is tragically high, there is hope. Breast Cancer found in its localized stage is curable and more than 98% of women who are diagnosed within this localized stage survive. Today, regular mammography exams are the best way to find breast cancer, and 'Early Detection is Your Best Protection'.

Thank you for your consideration.
