Cary Medical Center’s Acute Care Unit has 26-licensed beds, all in private rooms, for inpatients with medical or surgical conditions who are not critically ill. With a highly trained nursing staff, full-time hospitalist coverage, and support from a wide variety of medical specialists, patients in the Acute Care Unit receive comprehensive care to meet their immediate and long term health needs.

Hours of Service

The Acute Care Unit is staffed 24-hours every day with nursing and hospitalist coverage. Additionally, several specialists are on-call 24-hours a day in case a patient requires more specific treatment or for consultation. At Cary Medical Center, we believe that seeing family and friends during a hospital stay is an important part of the patient’s overall recovery. We do not restrict visiting hours except upon patient’s request. These arrangements can be arranged by the patient’s nurse.

Services Provided

Patients on the Acute Care Unit receive around-the-clock nursing and physician care. Depending on the patient’s needs and condition, specialists including therapists, social workers, nutritionists, and other medical professionals provide personalized care in a collaborative, patient-focused environment. Our staff is able to provide specialized monitoring for patients who need it with the use of portable, wireless equipment right in the patient’s room. This allows nursing staff to closely watch the patient’s vital signs and other important health information.

Location

From the hospital’s main entrance, the Acute Care Unit is located approximately half-way down the main hallway on the right. If you require assistance or are unfamiliar with our facility, our customer service volunteers would be happy to escort you to the department.
