Cary Classic 2025 Results

The weather was perfect right to the end of the evening of this year’s Cary Classic Benefit Golf Tournament. The Cary Classic’s 41st tournament brought in 112 golfers, including several past champions, and new participants as well. Phil Pelletier took home the Grand Prize for the Men’s Division I Low Gross with an 18-hole score of 71. Jane Hunter took home the Grand Prize for the Ladies Division I Low Gross, finishing with a score of 86. This is Hunter’s 3rd tournament win and Pelletier’s 2nd tournament win.

Although Hunter was the clear winner of the Ladies Division, the Men’s Division headed back to the links for a sudden death playoff between Phil Pelletier and Kyle Grooms, Saturday evening. It took 3 holes before Pelletier took the championship win on hole number one.

The Cary Classic featured more than $7,000 in prizes, including closest-to-the pin and 4 opportunities at a hole-in-one prize, including one for $25,000. In addition to the cash, first place winners were presented with glassware commemorating the Cary Classic Tournament, and the low gross winners were presented with the Norman Collins Award.

This year also brought back the Junior’s Division. Caribou Country Club member Matt Pelletier won the Junior’s Low Gross with an 84, and Logan Caron of Presque Isle Country Club won the Junior’s Net with a 74.

More than 50 area businesses, organizations, and individuals generously contributed to the fundraiser benefiting improvements to patient care areas at Cary Medical Center. Chelsey Anderson, Executive Director of the Jefferson Cary Foundation and event organizer, was grateful for the support from the area. “The generosity from our sponsors is never-ending. This is truly a community you can count on to make a difference.”

Katahdin Trust Company has been the Corporate Sponsor of the Classic for more than a decade. “Katahdin Trust is proud to have sponsored another successful Cary Classic Golf Tournament. We are honored to have sponsored this event for 11 years. We realize that this is an important fundraiser for the Jefferson Cary Foundation and are honored to be part of it, said Craig Staples, Vice President and Commercial Services Officer and Municipal Services for Katahdin Trust. The company also raised an additional $1,000 in funds for Cary Medical Center during the tournament with their Cornhole for a Cause challenge.

The tournament also featured a food truck, a silent auction, featuring items donated by the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Portland Sea Dogs and items from many area businesses.

“Not only are the sponsors important, but our golfers, staff and volunteers cannot go unrecognized,” said Anderson. “We are thrilled with the numbers, and to have brought many new faces to the event, but also welcome back returning players.”

The Cary Classic Benefit Golf Tournament is the largest fundraiser organized by the Jefferson Cary Foundation. Over the years more than $500,000 has been raised through the Cary Classic. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will be used to renovate patient care areas at Cary Medical Center.
