Cary Classic Partnership with Katahdin Trust Company Continues for a Decade

Annual Cary Classic Benefit Golf Tournament Partnership with Katahdin Trust Company Continues for a Decade

For the 10th consecutive year, Katahdin Trust Company is the Major Corporate Sponsor for the Annual Cary Classic Benefit Golf Tournament. This year’s 40th Annual Cary Classic will be held on Saturday, July 6th at the Caribou Country Club, with tournament proceeds to purchase new equipment to keep newborn babies, Mom and Dad comfortable and safe on the new Maternal/Child Floor at Cary Medical Center.

The tournament is organized by the Jefferson Cary Foundation at Cary Medical Center. Pam Scheppele, Jefferson Cary Foundation Board President, stressed the importance of the partnership between Katahdin Trust and the Cary Classic. “We are so incredibly fortunate to have Katahdin Trust as our partner for these past 10 years.  Katahdin Trust’s support over all these years has helped our hospital which is so very important to our community.”

Presenting the $5,000 sponsorship check from Katahdin Trust to Chelsey Anderson, Executive Director of the Jefferson Cary Foundation (middle), are Peggy Smith, Vice President, Branch Manager (right) and (left) Craig Staples, Vice President, Commercial Services Officer of Katahdin Trust.

“It’s been an honor and privilege to be associated with the Cary Classic for the past 10 year. We’ve been able to celebrate the good and not so good golf shots, but most importantly we’ve helped raise funds for Cary Medical Center’s various projects that provide a lifeline to everyone in our community. Katahdin Trust Company is a proud sponsor of the Cary Classic,” said Staples.

The one day tournament marks its 40th Anniversary, and will feature five men’s divisions, including a Senior Division, and two ladies’ divisions. The tournament will be held on Saturday, July 6th, with a rain date of Sunday, July 7th. Tee off times are 7:30a.m. and 1:00p.m.

“It’s hard to believe that this tournament has been going on for 40 years.  And what’s wonderful about the Cary Classic is that we have golfers who have participated year after year.  I hope we can continue this event for many years to come,” said Scheppele, JCF Board President.

In addition to a Hole-In-One Prize of $50,000, the tournament will also feature $7,000 in prizes for division winners, prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin, and 3 other prize opportunities for a Hole-In-One.

Plus, Katahdin Trust Company has thrown in some added fun to benefit Cary Medical Center in celebration of its 100th Year! The bank will set up Corn Hole for a Cause at an area on the course where participants get a chance to throw three bean bags at a corn hole board. If a participant gets a bean bag in the hole, the bank will donate $25 towards the cause. Any participant will get a small prize as well. This event is free.

“With this year being forty years of the Cary Classic, ten of those years with Katahdin Trust Company, and Cary Medical Center celebrating one-hundred years, the Jefferson Cary Foundation wanted to do it up big this year with the hole-in-one prizes increasing, opportunities for golfers that are just out for fun, and for non-golfers at the event too,” said Chelsey Anderson, Executive Director of the Jefferson Cary Foundation and tournament organizer.

There will also be opportunities for the public to participate in events and help raise funds for Cary Medical Center’s youngest patients. In the Community Square, located in front of the Caribou Country Club’s clubhouse, the community will be able to join in the silent auction with various prizes from area businesses; including a fire pit and egg patio chair donated by Walmart of Presque Isle, Vera Bradley products donated from Wilder’s Jewelry, a toolbox and toolset from Lowe’s of Presque Isle and more!

The Cary Classic is also excited to announce several food trucks are joining in the fun this year. Registered golfers will receive food vouchers for the trucks, and the community is welcome to purchase food as well. Donations are welcome at our fundraising event.

“Thank you for the continued support from Katahdin Trust Company, so many returning and new sponsors, and to our golfers. You make this event great. Registered golfers get a free practice round on Friday the 5th, eighteen holes of golf on tournament Saturday, a golf polo, vouchers for the food trucks, a thank you gift, and the knowledge you’re helping your community’s hospital,” said Anderson.

Golfers interested in playing in the tournament should register by Thursday, July 4th. Register for the 40th Annual Cary Classic Benefit Golf Tournament online at https://caribougolf.com
