Local Student Receives Walter Reid Morrill Memorial Scholarship

The family of the late Walter Reid Morrill is pleased to announce Emma Christie, of Caribou, as the 2024 recipient of the Walter Reid Morrill Memorial Scholarship. The $500 annual scholarship was established in Mr. Morrill’s memory to offer financial assistance to local students going into the Nursing field.

Christie is a senior at Caribou High School and works at Cary Medical Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She also volunteers at Aroostook House of Comfort. Christie will attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle this fall pursuing her degree in Nursing.

“The family is pleased to be able to provide this scholarship in our father’s memory,” said the Morrill Family, formerly of New Sweden. “To be able to give a local student a scholarship to start their nursing education is something that makes us proud. We wish Emma all the best and success in her pursuits.”

The Scholarship program is administered by the Jefferson Cary Foundation at Cary Medical Center. Presenting the scholarship award to Christie is Chelsey Anderson, Executive Director of the Jefferson Cary Foundation.
